Emma Watson Steps Out for Rare Public Appearance at NBA All-Star Celebrity Game |
Emma Watson has temporarily swapped the world of magic for the basketball court.
The acclaimed actress, currently pursuing a master's degree in literature at Oxford University, made a rare public appearance at the 2025 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Oakland, California, on February 14.
A video shared by ESPN on TikTok captured the 34-year-old looking effortlessly chic in an all-black ensemble as she smiled, waved, and blew kisses to a spectator. She also enjoyed a brief courtside conversation with EDM artist Tucker Halpern, who was among the celebrity participants in the game, alongside musician Noah Kahan and actor Pablo Schreiber.
Watson has maintained a low profile since resuming her academic journey. However, she was last spotted in July, sharing a cozy outing with Kieran Brown, a PhD student she reportedly met at Oxford, according to the Daily Mail.
Beyond her personal life, the Beauty and the Beast star has been vocal about how stepping back from Hollywood to focus on education has been transformative for her.

“I’m so grateful I took the leap,” she told British Vogue in December 2023. “I now feel a sense of independence and creative freedom that I didn’t have before.”
While returning to academia posed its own challenges, Watson is certain it was the right move.
“I allowed things to be uncertain for a while, and I’m glad I did,” she explained. “The clarity I’ve gained from that experience is invaluable.”
Her time at Oxford has also offered fresh insight into the nature of fame and success.
“I have the privilege of being around some of the most accomplished, talented people in the world,” she shared. “And one thing has become clear—no level of external success will ever bring true happiness if you’re not comfortable with who you are when no one’s watching.”
